INFO – Screening tests are used to detect a disease before it causes any symptoms or signs. Cancer screening is essential because the earlier we detect a cancer, the better the chance of cure. Screening tests exist for several cancers such as cervical, colorectal, breast, and prostate. Over the past few years guidelines have changed with respect to which screening tests should be done for which people. This can be confusing to people who expect a screening test and then are suddenly told that they won’t have it. We will discuss the current screening recommendations based on the best available evidence.
